How to Become a Licensed REALTOR® in Pennsylvania

The future is bright in the local real estate business, and with a little passion and determination, your success is unlimited in this profession. You will possess the power to be as successful as you want to be, but first...you need the right tools and the right team.

  1. Attend a Real Estate School

To become licensed, REALTOR® candidates must be high school graduates, at least 18 years old, and complete 60 hours of real estate courses, including Real Estate Fundamental and Real Estate Practice. In Pennsylvania, you can complete the required training, become a licensed real estate agent, and start a new career in just a matter of months.

After taking these courses in basic real estate knowledge and passing their final exams, you'll then need to pass your state real estate exam to get licensed.

Contact Us for more information regarding Pennsylvania Real Estate Schools!

  2. Take the state and national licensing exam

The exams are administered together at PSI Exam Center, 1127 Lackawanna Trail Rd. Clarks Summit, Pa 18411. Upon completing your licensing classes you will be provided with transcripts and information on how to schedule your exam

  3. Apply for your license

To apply for a license you must be associated with a Pennsylvania licensed Real Estate Broker (like Classic Properties!). Your Broker will guide you through the application process and have to sign off on your completed application. The following documents are needed to apply for a license:

  • Completed application
  • Class transcripts
  • Test results(state and national)
  • Criminal background check
  • Cost= $107

Typically when mailing your application packet it takes 3-4 weeks to be approved and issued a license. Candidates also have the option of driving their packed to the Real Estate Commission office in Harrisburg and can have their license issued in person immediately. Candidates cannot begin working until they are issued their license number.
