3 Steps to Getting Your Real Estate License in Pennsylvania!

Your future is bright in the local real estate business! Homes across NEPA are selling quickly, and the market is ripe for new agents to get into the mix! With passion and determination, success is unlimited in this profession, but first...you need the right tools, the right training. and the right team. Also...you're going to need your PA real estate license!

Have no fear, we're breaking the real estate education process down into 3 simple steps!

  1. Attend a Real Estate School

In Pennsylvania, you can complete the required training, become a licensed real estate agent, and start a new career in just months. To become licensed, REALTOR®, candidates must be high school graduates, at least 18 years old, and complete 60 hours of real estate courses, including Real Estate Fundamental and Real Estate Practice.

Real estate education classes can be completed at a school/class held near you or even online! After taking courses in basic real estate knowledge and passing their final exams, you'll then need to pass your State Real Estate Exam to get licensed.

  2. Take the State and National Licensing Exam

The exams are administered together at PSI Exam Center, 1127 Lackawanna Trail Rd. Clarks Summit, Pa 18411. Upon completing your licensing classes you will be provided with transcripts and information on how to schedule your exam.

  3. Apply for Your License

To apply for a license you must be associated with a Pennsylvania licensed Real Estate Broker (like Classic Properties!). Your Broker will guide you through the application process and have to sign off on your completed application. The following documents are needed to apply for a license:
  • Completed application
  • Class transcripts
  • Test results(state and national)
  • Criminal background check
  • Cost= $107

Typically, it takes 3-4 weeks to be approved and issued a license. Candidates have the option of driving their package to the Real Estate Commission office in Harrisburg and having their license issued in person immediately. Candidates cannot begin working until they are issued their license number.

Now you know the NEXT STEPS to your new career!
